Jennifer Dixon - Personal Biography Yoga became a daily practice for me in 2010 after a serious back injury prevented me from doing the high intensity training I had always practiced and loved. After eight rounds of four epidural shots in my lower back, and surgery quickly becoming the "only" remaining option, I decided to try yoga, hoping it would alleviate the constant pain. I started in a heated Power class, unable to touch my toes or climb stairs without pain, and ended the first class pain free. I was hooked! Immediately, I signed up for my first 200-hour Power Yoga Teacher Training, quickly followed by a 500-hour training under the same lineage. It took me two years to find Ashtanga yoga and my first teacher, Donna Feiner. Many years earlier, Donna had been authorized by Manju Jois to teach both the Primary and Intermediate series. I somehow managed to sneak into my first training with Manju at Donna's shala and haven't stopped following him since. I have been fortunate to attend several training sessions a year with Manju across the United States, including two while pregnant. In 2014 I completed an apprenticeship with Donna that focused on the therapeutic benefits of Ashtanga yoga. In January of 2019, Manju blessed me with authorization to teach the Primary and Intermediate series. I teach following Manju's emphasis on therapy, pranayama and mantra, and I love sharing the miraculous benefits of this practice with all my students. And I am still pain free! I have a yoga studio in Chattanooga, Tennessee called Thrive Yoga and Wellness.
