Luigi Fratus (Taro) - Personal Biography

Luigi Fratus (Taro) left his native Italy for India in 1977 at the age of 22 in search of spirituality and spent most of his time there until his definite return in 2000. After experimenting with various types of yoga, he finally found his home in Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in 1990 with his teacher, Rolf Naujokat. Nine years later, he traveled to Mysore to study with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Guruji). Taro had found his new teacher, but an unfortunate accident prevented him from pursuing his studies with Guruji. Unable to leave Italy, he began to practice with Lino Miele in 2006 and completed his in-depth study in 2011 authorizing him to teach the primary series. Taro continues to deepen his practice and teaching skills with Miele, assisting him regularly in his workshops. He has been teaching Ashtanga yoga since 2001.
