Laura Fulton - Personal Biography
When I was diagnosed with neurological Lyme disease in 2013, Clifford Sweatte, senior student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, invited me to his Ashtanga yoga class. He encouraged me to do what I could while focusing on my breath. What mattered was using my breath to calm my mind which would calm my body which would bring healing. I attended his class weekly during an expected 3-year treatment. After 10 months with a daily practice, I completed treatment and continue to maintain a regular practice.
That same year, Clifford introduced me to Manju Jois. I have had the great fortune to be able to regularly study under Manju since then. As the years of practice and study have passed, he has helped me refine my practice to make it work for me, my healing and recovery. Every six to nine months, I have a new body chemistry and physical body to work with, which means fine-tuning my practice. We adapt the practice and make it work for me, as it was originally taught.
I teach Ashtanga yoga in Middleburg, Virginia and the surrounding counties at various locations and out of my home, with an emphasis on the therapeutic aspects. Anyone is welcome to come to class. We will work together to make the practice work for you. I teach led classes, Mysore and private individual or group sessions. Manju certified and authorized me to teach both the Primary and Intermediate Series internationally. Along with Clifford and Manju, I have studied with David Williams and Greg Tebb.
