Kino MacGregor - Personal Biography

Kino MacGregor

Without any background in movement training, Kino MacGregor tried her first yoga class when she was nineteen. Three years later, she joined Govinda Kai's Mysore-style classes in New York City and became a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner. After seven months of traditional Ashtanga practice, Kino traveled to Mysore, India to meet her true teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois ("Guruji"). Upon her return she began real self-practice by practicing alone and devoting herself entirely to the study of Ashtanga yoga. After seven years of consistent trips to Mysore, at the age of 29, she received from Guruji the certification to teach Ashtanga yoga. She completed the third series of Ashtanga yoga and is now learning the fourth series with Sharath.

Kino is also a life coach and Ph.D. student in holistic health with a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York University. After spending a major portion of her life actively engaged in personal growth work, Kino returned to Miami Beach to create a space dedicated to the integration of yoga, holistic health and consciousness. In 2006, she and her husband Tim Feldmann founded Miami Life Center, where they now teach daily classes and workshops together.

She has produced six Ashtanga yoga DVDs [Kino MacGregor – A Journey, A Workshop (2008); Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series (2008); Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series (2009); Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga with Kino MacGregor, Greg Nardi and Tim Feldmann (2011); Ashtanga Yoga: Third Series (2012); Yoga for Beginners (2014)]; and a primary series practice sheet. In July 2012, she published a memoir, Sacred Fire: My Journey Into Ashtanga Yoga. In June 2013, she published The Power of Ashtanga Yoga, a comprehensive view of the practice interwoven with her motivating insights and guidance. In July 2013, she released her first chanting CD, The Mantra Collection Vol. 1. In September 2015, she published The Power of Ashtanga Yoga II: The Intermediate Series.

Kino is dedicated to sharing the amazing tradition of Ashtanga yoga with its growing number of practitioners. Teaching locally and internationally, she leads classes, workshops and retreats in traditional Ashtanga yoga, holistic health and total life transformation. In her unique, inspirational and playful approach, Kino helps her students expand and deepen their understanding of yoga and life.
